“Went today for the lunch set menu. We had curried pasta which was possibly the most delicious pasta I have ever eaten, followed by translucent melts in the mouth cod and sweet fruit salad. Overall the meal was fantastic and could not believe the price on the bill. Best value for money in any restaurant in any country that we have eaten in.“
“Fine dining gourmet food on a very high quality level. I would not be surprised that is in Paris be among the top 200. Quality ingredients elevated with top chef skils. Book in advance and look for the Tasting Menu, however if the chef recommend something, just go for it. In the end the prices are a positive surprise also.“
“A friend who owns a great coffee shop / bar in Guimaraes recommended this restaurant and i am thankful. We booked a very late slot as we had meetings running late though they were happy to fit us in. Once we arrived we had to ring the doorbell and were greeted and seated. They only work on reservations. So this is how it works. You get to choose the wine, they do the rest. We asked what sort of wine might go well with today's menu and we're shown a few by the friendly waiter who spoke perfect English. Then a few moments later our first course arrived a shot of a bisque like soup. Delicious! The wine by the way was amazing a northern Portuguese red. We were brought 4 more courses all impeccable and light. A sort of Basque Spanish fusion. Similar to some of the places in San Sebastián / Biarritz though very high end. Seafood, a light cod on a bed of crunchy rice with a moreish asparagus purée and basil oil then a caramelised pork finishing up with a fresh apple and yoghurt sorbet topped with popping candy! Very modern. The bill was the best surprise I could barely believe how cheap it was for such honest good food and service. Go here! “
“The best chef, the best food and sympathy. Unique concept in town. Excelent localization. Great location for anyone visiting the city on foot“
“We had a fabulous meal here last night. The set menu was all that was available, I had pumpkin and carrot soup (which had the most delicious mussels at the bottom), my wife had mushroom risotto, both were wonderful. In fact, before this, we were both given a really delicious complementary starter, but I can't even begin to explain what it was, it had so many different flavours. The mains were a choice of either hake or slow cooked meat. Again we had each so we could try both, and again both were superb. The slow cooked meat though, was really amazing! The dessert was again complementary, a really delicious chocolate and cream mousse, which also had lychees. The restaurant itself is tucked away a few minutes walk from the centre in a location you could easily miss. The service was excellent too and if I was to return to Guimaraes, I would definitely be visiting this restaurant again.“
“Excellent!! What a wonderful positive surprise... Starting with the wonderful food, the wine menu is spectacular and a extraordinary treatment... Without a doubt one of the best dinners I have had in recent times... I highly recommend!“
“The best meal we've had in Portugal. The set menu is a choice of two starters and two mains with one set pudding. The mains were pork or hake. We had one of each and both tasted great. Their may not be much choice but each dish is cooked and presented beautifully. It really does make the idea of a set menu very appealing. The service is perfect as well. On a Thursday night in late November we didn't need to book but at other times I think you'd need to. This place is great value for money.“
“Great food. Great food. Great food. As most of the time in Porto and area, they were very nice to us (2 year old child). They dont have a menu. They proposed two options as a starter and two options as a main course. Everything was perfect. Including the desert. Totally recommend them. Great service. Go!“
“What an experience! We went there a couple of Fridays ago. There was no written menu, just the tasting menu devised by the chef that day. My wife's heart sank when told that the first course was clams and the second squid, two of her least favourite foods. When they arrived she was bowled over by them both, a triumph of bold flavours and immaculate saucing. The rest of the meal followed the same pattern of wonderful flavours and textures, superbly presented. Faultless service was the icing on the cake. Oh, and the wine. Our waiter suggested a superb bottle, which we discovered the following day in the (very good) wine shop near the railway station for just a couple of euros less than the restaurant price, so no big mark ups! In fact our bill came to around seventy euros for five courses, including a twenty five euro bottle of wine. I was almost embarrassed to pay such a paltry amount for what was a perfect dining experience.“
“Not conventional as no menu just a small choice on food of the day. French and Portuguese fusion style dining. Extensive wine list. Had the fish dish which was excellent! Dessert also really tasty. Lovely atmosphere. Might be worth booking in advance as can get busy towards the weekend. Good unhurried service with just one front of house waiter. Was highly recommended by Trip Advisor and also hotel staff and would have to agree, definitely would recommend. Bill came to €50 which included a bottle of wine as well as two courses each for the two of us which I genuinely felt was worth it as it feels more like fine dining than many restaurants I have used on my Portuguese trip.“
“We are in Porto for two weeks and are spending the weekend in Guimares, actually staying almost across the street from Le Babachris at Mestre de Avis, but that is snorers review. We wisely had the hotel call for reservations, as this is the kind of place where you can't just walk in. We are so glad we did. It was a set menu, no choices. Just put yourself in their hands and go with it. We did order some great and reasonable vinho verde, made from the artino grape, Dom Diego. Then there was an amuse bouche; tender fish purée with croutons, a mixed seafood and cherry tomatoes on cous cous dish with miso soup (mix them in your mouth), fish on red pepper purée with black pasta, peas, and a prawn, veal with broccoli on another purée, and finally gelato with raspberries on a kind of crunchy chocolate powder. Flavors, textures, colors; all so interesting and varied. Charming young waiter, and a glass of port at the end. While not cheap it was so worth the experience. Go. Just go.“
“The restaurant is run by a family, and it has a very cosy atmosphere. We went for dinner on a Friday night. At weekends, there is only a fix menu - 3 courses + dessert. We normally prefer to choose what we would like to eat, but the food was so delicious that it did not really mater.“
